Now Back to Quilting

This week we marked our quilt tops so we will have machine quilting lines.  It was very time-consuming, but still fun.
Look very closely-- the pencil lines are hard to see

Next we "sandwich" the layers. We put the back down first, right side down, then the batting on that and smooth it out and then put the top on last, right side up, smoothing all layers.

After getting all the wrinkles out of all the layers, we basted the layers together with safety pins.......LOTS AND LOTS OF SAFETY PINS.  I used 300 and could have used more. (look closely, they are there..)

I looked back through your blog and it was so interesting to read through your quilting journey. Though I quilted a couple of baby quilts from the preprinted panels way back in about 1980 my very first quilt was made in 1995. My mother and both my grandmothers were quilters so I do have some history with it. I hope you love it as much as I do. You're doing a great job with your blog and with your quilt too! blessings, marlene
